Before Christmas, the Safe America Foundation analyzed how its ‘VET Tran’ worked in 2023. And, thanks to an analysis with Dan Carfang, the non-profit sensed some MAJOR GOOD in 2023 to help MORE veterans to get to hospitals and now having more non-profits evaluating to ‘ask’ VET Tran opportunity.
SafeAmerica President & CEO Len Pagano praised work with the new VET Tran staff – with 5 people driving veterans and also engaging other veteran organizations. Pagano noted that the top staff managers in 2023 were Dan Carfang, Terry Defore, Michael Thompson, Steve Mason and James O’Shields – and he noted that they drove dozens of veterans plus drove over 1,353 miles in over 71 hours.
“This year, it was impressive for us to do veterans to medical care – and now we’re getting more requests,” Pagano observed. “We’re appreciating the Roswell Rotary – plus Highland Rivers, Cobb Collaborative, American Legion/Post 201, United Military Care, VFW/Roswell, John’s Creek Veterans Association and Colonel’s Cup Foundation – that were discussing with us and considering ways how we can do some great work and collaborate.”
Pagano noted the Knights of Columbus were a great partner and made a donation. And, so did Primerica. In 2024, SafeAmerica anticipates more firms to seek support. Among firms that have been chatting with SafeAmerica are Cobb EMC (and its Foundation offered support over the past 11 months) plus: Puckett EMS (which donated two ambulances for VET Tran); The Home Depot (which is now considering a ‘potential donation’); Carl Black Buick GMC (which will consider ways to offer help); Race Trac, Wells Fargo and NAPA (which may also consider some support).
Another impressive development has been growing support from Metro Atlanta Rotary Clubs, with Roswell Rotary now planning to consider a grant for VET Tran.
“Thanks to Roswell Rotary President Alex Kaufman, we’ll plan to do MORE GOOD within North Fulton County – and will also seek to partner with other Rotary clubs in Alpharetta, Sandy Springs and John’s Creek. We’re also considering to help those who are homeless – and have them housed into new centers that can make their lives safer’ – and more relaxing – than the tough work they did in Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries.”
