Kaiser Permanente ‘Doing Good’ to Help Veterans

Plans for this fall are now underway as Safe America is re-launching VET Tran. And, thanks to Kaiser Permanente, the Foundation is looking to deliver veterans for TRI-CARE at 4 medical centers in Metro Atlanta.

The VET Tran program is under a national ‘pilot project,’ with a goal of delivering thousands of veterans each year for no cost or under $50 round-trip.

“We know veterans need more medical care – and many don’t have vehicles or can’t drive because of medical injuries,” noted Safe America President & CEO Len Pagano. “That’s why we’re delighted to partner with Kaiser Permanente and get more great medical care to veterans – quickly and comfortably transported, also!”

Pagano thanked Kaiser Permanente and noted that more work will be planned in 2024 once the initial ‘start’ has been studied. He also thanks other organizations such as Knights of Columbus for helping volunteer. He noted that Safe America will focus on having dozens of volunteers – and staff employees – working monthly.

“There are thousands of veterans who need help – and we want to help them,” Pagano said. “Here’s to our saluting those veterans who are heroes – and making their lives better.”
